We're excited to be bringing back the Acavallo carousel. We built this for burning man 2007, and it was waay to big to take anywhere else. Now we got a new plan - to build it nomad style, to get it out and on the road. It'll travel as a gooseneck trailer, and then transform in a few hours into a self-propelled party ship of epic good times.

Here's a nice video from Dirby, showing the pile of rusting horses and steel frames waiting to be rebuilt leaner, meaner, and road ready! Below are some renders of the new design! It's tight yo.

Day1Day2

Design Goals:

The piece never comes apart - it travels as a gooseneck trailer. The masts fold down, the awning and speakers pack up, and it's a trailer, ready to tow to the next gig. One day setup! It'll play parades, parties and festivals everywhere. The original carousel was too big, and too time consuming to assemble. This is what it should have been!

Things to notice in the pictures:

Four carouseling horses. There's a fifth up front, on a sprung stand, for transcendental rides. There's a stage on the back, with lights and sound. Speakers big enough to represent but not so loud as to incite violence. A sound guy. A driver down in a well, steering the big back wheels and running the engine. There's storage up front and under the stage, and a bike rack in the back. A catwalk at 14'-0", the max trailer-able height. Each horse has a flame effect at the top of their pole. Yeah. The gooseneck trailer frame is shown in green. One set of wheels does the driving - you can see the driveshaft going back up to the motor under the deck, between the soundguy and the driver. The lights, sound, and carouseling horses are powered by a generator up front, down low. The piece will be dynamic - it'll pitch and sway like a ship rollicking along the waves as we boogie on down the road. Baja 1000, anyone?
